Crossroads

Have you ever been at a crossroad in your life when you're not sure which path to take next??

It could be about your job -- do I stay in the one I have or find a new one??
Do I continue my education or go out into the "real world"??
Do I stay in this relationship or go??
Is this the church I should be at or should I move on??
Am I really the person God wants me to be or do I need to do a major overhaul??
Am I really a Christian or just pretending to fool others and myself??
What makes me question everything I have learned about faith and religion??

What is it--- Where is it--- and Why don't I understand it???????????????

Things aren't always black and white ,, sometimes they're gray and that's what trips people up every time......

Why do bad things happen to good people and why do bad people have good things happening to them???

It was alot easier when we were young and thought we knew everything!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
But now we're older and questioning everything!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What's this about being young and "thinking" you know everything?

The one thing that you can be sure of is the Word of God. That doesn't change, but stands fast forever. So, too, the Word made Flesh, our Lord Jesus Christ; He is the same, yesterday, today and forever. He and His Word to you are true and certain, as ever and always, even if/when at times (past, present or future) your own knowledge, understanding or faith are a bit off kilter or wobbly.

Asking questions can be a matter of doubt and uncertainty, even of skepticism and unbelief. However, questions that seek the Word and will of God are generally the sort that stem from repentance and faith. There is a hunger in us Christians for the One who is the Way, the Truth and the Life, and we are never fully satisfied until we have eaten and inwardly digested Him. Along with that, it remains the case that we are not only finite but flawed and frail creatures. Our contentment, therefore, is never in ourselves, but in Christ Jesus our Lord.

There are crossroads in life at which people do take decidedly wrong turns, no doubt. Then there are the majority of crossroads in a person's life, which represent a variety of free and clear options (neither commanded nor forbidden, but simply different). There are also those significant Cross-roads, like the calling of St. Matthew this past Sunday, at which we are put to death by the Law and raised to new life by the Gospel. Then we are turned around a - way from our sin, back toward God - to walk in the way of Christ.

Take comfort in knowing that, while the right way to go may be elusive and mysterious to you, the Lord has His eye on you, and He won't lose track of you and where you're going. He really hasn't set you into a maze to figure out your own way to Him; but He calls you by the Gospel, enlightens you with His gifts, sanctifies and keeps you in the true faith.

You know the way. How can you? Jesus is the Way, and He has given Himself to you in your Baptism, as He continues to reveal and give Himself to you in His Word.
